Your clinician may set up automated reminders for your upcoming appointments. You may receive different types of appointment reminders, depending on what your clinician has enabled.
In this guide, we’ll cover:
- Types of appointment reminders
- Confirming and canceling appointments via text reminders
- Unsubscribing and re-enrolling in text reminders
- Troubleshooting email appointment reminders
Note: If you have a Telehealth appointment, your email and/or text reminder(s) will contain the unique, one-time link you'll use to join the appointment virtually. To learn more, see Joining a video call.
Types of appointment reminders
Your clinician may offer email, text, and/or voice appointment reminders. These reminders will be sent 24, 36, 48, or 72 hours before your appointment start time, and will include your appointment start time in the practice’s timezone.
Important: Email, text, and voice reminders are automated, and replies won’t be received by your clinician. If you need to contact your clinician, please reach out to them directly by email, phone, or secure message.
Email reminders
Email appointment reminders will look similar to this:
Note: Email appointment reminders are sent from a no-reply email address, yourprovider@simplepractice.com. We recommend adding this sender to your email contacts to ensure that email reminders are delivered to your inbox.
Text and voice reminders
Your clinician can also enroll you in text or voice reminders. Text reminders will look similar to this:
If you’re enrolled in voice reminders, you’ll receive a phone call with a voice message that contains your appointment details.
If you’d only like to receive certain types of appointment reminders, please let your clinician know.
Confirming and canceling appointments via text reminders
You may have the option to confirm or cancel appointments from your text reminders. If your clinician has this option enabled, you’ll see a confirmation/cancellation link in your reminder.
To confirm an appointment:
- Tap the link to open your appointment details
- Select Yes, I’ll Be There
To cancel an appointment:
- Tap the link to open your appointment details
- Select Cancel Appointment
- Enter your Reason for canceling
- Note: This field is required
- Tap Yes, Cancel to notify your clinician of your appointment cancellation
Note: If you don’t see the option to cancel your appointment, you may be outside of the practice’s cancellation window. Please reach out to your clinician to learn more about their cancellation policy.
Unsubscribing and re-enrolling in text reminders
You can unsubscribe from text reminders at any time by replying STOP.
Once you unsubscribe, you'll no longer receive text reminders going forward.
To re-enroll in text reminders, locate the previous text thread and reply START. If you can't find the previous text thread, please contact your clinician for assistance.
Troubleshooting email appointment reminders
If you're missing an email appointment reminder, check your Junk or Spam folder. If email reminders are being incorrectly marked as junk/spam, you can open the email reminder and report it as not junk/spam.
Tip: Add yourprovider@simplepractice.com to your email contacts to stop email reminders from being sent to Junk or Spam in the future.
If you can’t find the email reminder in your Junk or Spam folder, we recommend reaching out to your clinician to make sure they have the correct email address on file.
